Loca Lanier-Spears was born September 2, 1932 to Arch and Eula Lanier of Wauchula. Loca was one of 6 children in the family. Their family were active members of New Hope Baptist Church for many years.
Loca was married to the love of her life Ray Spears in 1953. Loca and Ray had 2 children: the late Michael Ray Spears of Wauchula, and Pam Spears-Flynn of Sebring.
Loca worked in the banking system throughout the years following Ray’s job as a lineman for Florida Power in various counties and around the state. But no matter the county, Loca, Ray & Family became members of the local Baptist Church in each area, putting God foremost in their lives.
In 1972 Loca and Ray moved back to Wauchula where they bought out the Wauchula Feed Store. There, they became members of the 1st Baptist Church in Wauchula. Loca continued to work at the Wauchula State Bank until she retired and began her bookkeeping job at the Feed Store.
Although it was hard work, they owned and operated the Feed Store and Lawn Mower Shop in Wauchula for 27 years.
Ray passed away in 2006 and Loca moved to Sebring with her daughter Pam. Loca and Pam are members of Home Church Sparta Road in Sebring.
Loca took pride in her family and extended family. She was Grandmother to Stephanie Michelle Hooks (Ken) and Jennifer Nicole Roberson (John). She had 8 Great-Grandchildren: Jon Mikel Windham, Ariana Scranton, Kayla Garay, Ryan Spears, Joshua Garay, Stephen Garay, Karlee Otero, and Maddie Hamilton; As well as 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren: Oden Negrete, Jaelyn Spears, Jamie Scranton, Hixon Scranton, and Vanessa Spears.
Loca loved life and was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother to many. But her biggest accomplishment in life was growing up in a Christian household and accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior. Because of that, she has no more pain, fears, or worries. She is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior. For many in her family this is not goodbye…it is see you later. We love you Grandma Loca!
