Lissie Sturgill

LISSIE STURGILL Lissie Sturgill, age 89, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Lake Placid, FL. She was born in Watergap, Kentucky on June 4, 1922 to Marion and Roxie (Hamilton) Laferty, where she was raised and married Monroe Sturgill. They moved to Michigan in 1952 so he could work in the auto industry. They relocated to Sebring in 1975 to manage apts. for Dees Dinner Lake for 20 years. She was a homemaker, served on the planning committee of Lake Josephine Baptist Church, where she is still a member. She is a life member of O.E.S. # 119 in Ypsilanti, Mich., started the Highlands Singles Club in the early 80s. Lissie loved people and helping others. She was a very loving and compassionate person and full of life. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Wright and her husband Harry W. Wright.; sisters Maggie Lewis of Hobart, Indiana and Darcus Sizemore of Ypsilanti, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Timothy J. (Elaine) Black, Tamara Black, Teresa Black (Brian) Darling, Russell Black II, Patrick (Rocky) (Michelle) Higgins and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Sturgill, daughter, Aileen Jeannette Black, 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Services will be held at the Stark Funeral Service in Ypsilanti, Michigan, she will be laid to rest by her husband and daughter in Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
