Leonard Wallace Wright

December 10, 1945 — June 28, 2023

Sebring

Our treasured Leonard Wallace Wright moved on to be with our heavenly father on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 while at Advent Hospital with his daughter and grandson by his side. He was born in Flint MI on December 10th, 1945 to Howard and Virginia (Coberley) Wright. In his junior year of high school, Leonard saw Sharon and knew she was the only one for him. They were married on June 19th, 1965 and have been a wonderful example of a loving and devoted couple for over 60 years. He is survived by his daughter, Darla Lynn and grandson Dawson Lee Wright; his son, Thad Edsel Wright, who gave them 3 more beautiful grandchildren and 3 adorable great grandchildren; his sister, Dawn Zacharias, and his brothers, Lyle Walker and William Coon. He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon Lee (Walker) Wright; his parents, Howard Wright and Virginia Haskins and his 8 week old granddaughter, Darby Lenn Wright. Leonard was an astounding and loving father and an adored grandfather. There really aren’t words for what he means to us. He was a mentor and strong supporter of everyone he befriended. While he was quiet, what he did say helped and encouraged so many, usually making them laugh with his sly sense of humor. Leonard was fortunate enough to have been retired 2 years longer than he had worked at AC Spark Plug in Flint, MI as a tool and die maker. Len and Sharon spent 30 years participating in Civil Air Patrol where they each reached the distinguished level of Lieutenant Colonel. While with CAP they helped numerous young people learn the joy of flying and many of them achieve their own private pilot’s licenses. Their love affair put them on the road and as full time RV’ers for 6 years they were able to visit 48 states and Hawaii! While volunteering for Habitat for Humanity they found Sebring FL and settled here 21 years ago. Len found many enjoyable routes while getting his 100 – 500 miles a day bike rides in and later started walking his 10,000 steps a day around the Tanglewood circle with his amazing walking partner. This one of a kind man will be forever remembered and loved and is already truly missed by everyone who had the honor to know him. Now, just like they’ve always wanted, Leonard and Sharon are together throughout eternity. So, we'll show him how much he means to us and Celebrate His Life! The family requests that memorial contributions be made to your local Habitat for Humanity in lieu of flowers. There will be a graveside service at Bougainvillea Cemetery, Avon Park FL on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome.
