Lee Thomas Mitchell

Mitchell, Lee Thomas (Tony), age 94 of Avon Park, Florida, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013. He was born September 15, 1919 in Sunnyside, Georgia to Henry Osgood and Annie Laurie (Patterson) Mitchell. During World War II he was a Tail Gunner on a B24 of the 8th Air Force 446 Bomb Group, he was retired from Florida Power (now Progress Energy), member of the First Baptist Church and has been a resident of Avon Park since 1948 coming from Frostproof, Florida. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 65 years-Catherine Mitchell of Avon Park, Florida; daughters-Trudie Henderson (Howard) and Nancy Benschoter (Reed); grandchildren-Eric and Amy; great grandchildren-Karma and Zedann. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with Pastor Jon Beck officiating.
