Lee I. Ashby

December 16, 1958 — January 27, 2022

Sebring

Lee, affectionately known as “GiGi”, was an energetic, loving, and passionate woman who will not be forgotten. Her vibrant personality and fantastic style left a searing impression on everyone she met. She balanced charm and delightful wit with untamable ambition to always do better and help others. There was not a single thing Lee didn't accomplish that she set her mind to; the woman never met a heel she couldn't walk in or a project she couldn’t finish. Lee was someone who, in the same lifetime, landed a spread in a fashion magazine, taught herself how to install tile and transform any home, traveled the world, modeled the epitome of strength and compassion, and built an extended network of people whom she loved as family. Her tireless approach to life is something that makes her sudden passing even more difficult for those around her who continue to grapple with the grief over her loss. In her honor, we will all continue the many dreams she dreamt for us and strive to make our lives shine as brightly as she did.

She is survived by her fantastically loving husband, Dr. Mark Ashby, her beloved daughter Dr. Jacquelyn Jackson Johnston, brother Stephen Jackson, son-in-law Diolbel Benitez, granddaughter Izabella Benitez, adopted daughter Alexandra Kalymeras, and many many many others who loved her as family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Captain Billy Moore Jackson and Margaret Joan Webb. In honor of the many animals she loved, fosters, and helped over the years, and in special honor of her most recent and beloved Ammo, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to No Paw Left Behind ( www.nopawleftbehind.org ).
