Lawrence Paul "Gator" Pate

Lawrence Paul Gator Pate, age 76 passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 in Sebring, Florida. Mr. Pate was born in Frostproof, Florida on July 22, 1935 to James Henry and Lucy (Latham) Pate. Mr. Pate worked for the United States Postal Service, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Avon Park, and a lifelong resident of Avon Park, Florida, he was a member of the VFW, he served in the United States Marines during the Korean War; he played with the Highlands County Concert Band, former member of the High Society Band, he also played with the Skylarks Band and also the Wind Jammers in Sarasota, he played in several bands while in the Marine Corp. He is survived by his wife of 46 years-Betty Pate of Avon Park, Florida; sons-Michael Pate of Avon Park, Florida and Brian Pate (Lymari) of Oviedo, Florida; 2 grandchildren-Gabriella Pate and Joseph Pate; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
