Laverne Hill

Laverne Hill, age 85, of Avon Park, FL, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023.  She was born April 7, 1938 in Ty Ty, GA to Thomas Jackson and Emma (Jenkins) Young.  She worked as a Clerk for Collier County, played piano at Florida Avenue Baptist Church for many years, member of the Auxiliary Daughters of the American Revolution, and has been a lifelong resident of Avon Park, FL.  Over several years, Laverne sang with two local gospel groups, and she also made several CD’s and recordings in Nashville of which several songs reached #10 on the gospel music’s top 100 radio survey.  Laverne is survived by her Son – Eddie Hill of Avon Park, FL.  She is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband – Dolan Hill; Daughter – Karen Hill; and Sisters – Mary Howard and Verlyn Marshall.  Graveside services will be held Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bougainvillea Cemetery.
