Laurence Wedeman, lovingly known as Larry, formerly of Lewes, Delaware and most recently of Sebring, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the age of 72, with his devoted wife by his side. While his passing leaves a deep void, Larry’s life was one full of love, music, laughter, and connection, one that will be celebrated and remembered always.
Larry was born on March 22, 1953, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, to Laurence and Anna Mae Wedeman. From an early age, he developed a passion for music and people, both of which became defining hallmarks throughout his life. Whether through song, conversation, or simple presence, Larry had a way of bringing people together.
He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-nine years, Susan Wedeman, the love of his life and constant companion. Larry was a proud and devoted father to Charles Wedeman, Lori Womer (Chris), Emily Martin (Matt), and Catherine Wedeman, and a loving stepfather to Emmitt Dippold (Megan), Susan Barczak (Stephen), Wayne Dippold (Andrea), and Amy Walczak. His greatest joy was his family, especially his twenty-six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Anna Mae Wedeman, and his stepson, Mark Dippold.
A man of many talents, Larry had a lifelong love of music and was an accomplished guitar player and singer. He also enjoyed playing pool and was well known for his enthusiasm for country line dancing, where he met Susan.
Larry proudly served in the United States Army National Guard, a role he carried with honor and pride. Professionally, he spent 34 years in the automotive industry, eventually retiring from General Motors, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career.
In retirement, Larry fully embraced life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He enjoyed stock trading, history, traveling, exploring nature, and most of all, spending time with Susan, whether at home, on the road, or enjoying quiet moments together. He lived with curiosity, optimism, and gratitude, always finding joy in the everyday.
Larry will be remembered for his warm heart, genuine smile, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. His faith, kindness, and zest for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on through the memories he created, and the family he cherished.
A small graveside service will be held in Pennsylvania.
