Larry Joe Vickory

December 21, 1956 — January 19, 2026

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Larry Joe Vickory, born in Pontiac, Michigan — a truly remarkable man whose presence filled a room, whose laughter was contagious, and whose heart was even bigger than his personality.

Larry was larger than life in every sense of the phrase. Kind, forgiving, and endlessly generous, he had a rare gift for making people feel seen, accepted, and loved. To know him was to love him — and once you loved him, you were family.

Above all else, Larry was profoundly proud of his family. He lived for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he spoke of them with unmistakable pride and joy. His legacy is not only the stories he told or the laughter he sparked, but the deep bonds, values, and love he passed down through generations.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mandy Elliott and Tara Vickory, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren — Katie, Josh, Joey, Autum, Cameryn, McKenzie, Jayda, Kayleigh, Ryder, Dezra, and Jurnee — and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his siblings, Debbie, Bonnie, and Jay, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, love, and connection.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Robert “Hooter” & Gladys Vickory; his brothers, Butch and Tom; his sister, Pat; his nephew, Danny; and his niece, Kristen, along with many other beloved friends and relatives who went before him. We take comfort knowing they are together again, reunited in love and peace.

Larry had a true passion for living life to the fullest. Whether he was out on the golf course or singing his heart out at karaoke — both weekly traditions he cherished — he approached everything with enthusiasm and joy. He was a proud and devoted member of the Elks Lodge, where his sense of community, generosity, and camaraderie thrived.

More than anything, Larry will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his forgiving nature, and the kindness he extended so freely to everyone he met. He taught those around him what it meant to love deeply, forgive freely, and live boldly.

In true Larry fashion, he wished not to have a traditional funeral, but instead a Celebration of Life, which will be held at the Elks Lodge on February 21, 2026 from 1:00–4:00 PM. In his honor, bring your singing voices — he wants to hear your karaoke in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.

Though he will be deeply missed, Larry’s love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
