Lanora "Norie" Fort

Fort, Lanora (Norie), age 86, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on October 24, 2015 in Sebring, Florida. She was born October 29, 1928 in rural Morton, IL to the late Christian and Rosa (Jacob) Ackerman. She married her husband, Ray Fort in 1950. Together, they raised their 2 children, Gregory and Douglas in Morton, and Pekin, IL, before relocating to Avon Park, FL. in 2002. Norie loved her church and attended Bible study regularly. Norie enjoyed golf, fishing, counted cross stitch, and visits with family and friends. Norie is survived by her husband, Ray Fort, also from Morton, residing in FL, sister, Velma Kerr of Chillicothe, MO, daughter-in-law, Michelle Fort of Lake Villa, IL, Granddaughter, Shannon Ferguson, and Great Granddaughter, Helena Ferguson, of Blue Springs, MO. Norie was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Gregory and Douglas, sister Viola Perdelwitz, and brothers Emanuel, Edward, Robert, and Melvin Ackerman, all of Morton, IL. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Morton United Methodist Church, 420 N Tennessee St, Morton, IL. The family will receive visitors at 10:30am with service at 11:00 am. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service. A private ceremony will be held at Glendale Memorial Cemetary, Pekin IL at 2:30pm.
