Kathleen Ann Spierings(Burnett), age 75 years old, of Elyria Ohio, passed away suddenly at her home on July 30th 2026. Born on December 5th 1949, she was the daughter of Warren and Sophia Burnett. Kathleen graduated from Elyria High School, class of 1968. Then later graduated from Baldwin Wallace College and worked as a social worker until settling into a career as an administrative assistant at the finance division of Pinellas County Clerk of Court in Clearwater Florida. Kathleen was dedicated to her family and was married to Gerald Spierings for over 50 years. Together, they built a life filled with hard work, laughter and devotion to family. They had three children, two grandchildren and one great-grandson. Kathleen loved her children fiercely and was a proud, active grandmother and experienced great joy in becoming a great grandmother.

Kathleen valued conversations on politics and current events. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and she loved the beach to watch a sunset or go walking in the mornings with her husband Gerald when they lived in Redington Shores Florida.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie Spierings and Lisa Suarez, her son-in-law Mark Michael, her grandchildren Reina Suarez and Maya Williams and her great-grandson Andrew Hodge. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Spierings, her parents Warren and Sophia Burnett, her brother Tom Burnett and her son Andrew Spierings.

There will be two services to celebrate the life of Kathleen Spierings. The first will be held in Ohio on September 20th 2026 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, Elyria, OH. The second service will be held in Florida on October 2nd, 2026. An interment ceremony 11:00 a.m. at Bay Pines Veterans Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. followed by a Celebration Gathering from noon to 4:00 p.m. across the street at the Holiday Inn Express 4816 100th Way N. St. Petersburg FL.
