Karen N. McKenna
Karen N. McKenna, 59, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018. She was born on June 26, 1959 in Naples, Florida. In 1980, she earned a degree in Food and Resource Economics from University of Florida. While Karen was attending the University of Florida, she met her husband Martin (Marty) James McKenna.
Karen and Marty were married in 1981, marking the start of their journey as a team building a successful business and loving family home in Sebring, Florida. In 1983, Karen earned an accounting degree from Webber International University. With Karen’s excellent accounting and economics education, she and Marty started McKenna and Associates Citrus Inc.
For 38 years, Karen was the foundation and backbone to her husband, four children and the business. Karen never missed one of her children’s’ gymnastics competitions, choral concerts, wrestling matches, or basketball, baseball, football or soccer games. She was the class mom, chauffeur, chef, and tutor to not only her own children but every child that came in her path. Karen contributed to many friends and family in earning their college degrees. She was an avid supporter of all FFA youth livestock activities.
Karen developed a long-lasting love of the Florida Keys and got great pleasure sharing it with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her husband of 38 years, Marty J. McKenna of Sebring, FL; sons, Michael McKenna of Gainesville, FL and Riley McKenna of Sebring, FL, daughter’s Elizabeth Yutzy (Clint) of Gainesville, FL and Emily Lassiter (Ryan) of Lake Wales, FL, parents Frank and Margie Narki of Sebring, FL; sister Lori Bragg (Buddy) of Emerson, AR; brother Frank William Narki of Babson Park, FL; and grandchildren McKenna Faye Lassiter and Annaclaire Martin Lassiter. She is preceded in death by her mother, Violet Narki and her brother, Kenneth Andrew Narki.
Memorial services will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Highlands News Sun Center, 781 Magnolia Avenue, Sebring, FL 33870. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen McKenna Memorial Fund, c/o Highlands County Junior Livestock Committee, P.O. Box 1425, Sebring, FL 33871.
