Juliella "Julie" Cooper Owens, 87, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away on August 23, 2026. Born in Orlando, Florida, to Otto and Maybelle Cooper, Julie was named in honor of her two grandmothers, Julia and Ella.
From a young age, Julie displayed a remarkable talent for sewing, a skill she learned from her mother. Her creativity and resourcefulness became defining qualities throughout her life. She held various civilian positions with the United States Air Force, including at McCoy Air Force Base, MacDill Air Force Base, and the Avon Park Air Force Range. She retired in 2014 as the commander's secretary.
Julie married Thurman Andrews in 1956, and they had three children: Thomas, Kevin, and Laura. On May 6, 1978, she married Roger Owens. Together, they shared a love of fishing and caring for their family's cattle. Julie took great pride in continuing her family's cattle-raising tradition, a legacy dating back to the 1800s.
Julie enjoyed gardening, caring for her animals, cooking, and music. She especially loved Elvis Presley and his religious songs. A talented musician herself, she played both the accordion and piano. Her Christian faith, generosity, and lifelong friendships were important parts of her life.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Owens, who passed away in 2015.
She is survived by her sister, Sophie Clark; her three children, Thomas, Kevin, and Laura; four grandchildren, Crystin, Joseph, Paige, and Kevin Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Jonathan, Damian, Oliver, and Aurelia.
