Judy Short, age 68, beloved wife of Allen F. Short, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 in Lake Placid, Florida. She was born on March 9, 1947 in Rockwood, Tennessee the only child of the late Elmer Ira Clark and Minnie Juanita Sherman Clark. She graduated from Oliver Springs High School and from Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Knoxville, TN and worked at other locations during her career in Gallatin, TN, Casper, WY and retired from the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT due to multiple sclerosis. She was a convert while at nursing school to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many compassionate church positions. Judy was an artist and loved painting and framing pictures of her art and family members. She travelled extensively with her husband to Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa as well as the U.S and Canada. She was unable to pass a yard sale without stopping in her golf cart in Placid Lakes. Her survivors are her husband Allen, of 42 years, many nieces and nephews and the siblings and families of her husband: Shirley Wise of Lake Placid, FL; Richard Short (Marilyn) of Cardington, OH; and Theodora “Teddie” Ireland of Salt Lake City, UT. A Memorial Service will be Friday, February 26th where friends will be received at the Sebring Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3235 Grand Prix Dr. from 5:00-5:45 pm. Services in the chapel will begin at 6:00 pm with Lake Placid Branch President Mark Swift officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Florida Chapter, P.O. Box 621207, Orlando, FL 32862-1207.
