Judith Adair Jones Laux passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2017 in Sebring, Florida. Judy was born February 1, 1936 in Passaic, New Jersey. She was raised in Weymouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. She attended boarding school at the Edgehill School for Girls in Windsor, Nova Scotia and obtained a degree in nursing from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec in 1957. Judy met William R. Laux, a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force, while working in Honolulu Hawaii and they were married in 1959. Together they raised six children while living at duty stations in Dover Delaware, Madrid Spain, Omaha Nebraska, San Francisco California and Tachikawa Japan. Judy and her family lived in Winter Haven Florida after William retired from the USAF, then Sebring Florida where William established a business, and finally settling into Gainesville Florida for several years after her children were grown. Judy was a registered nurse and practiced nursing for 30 years in San Francisco California, Honolulu Hawaii, and in Winter Haven, Sebring and Gainesville Florida, and spent much of her career as an operating room nurse. Judy loved to travel the world and took many trips with friends, visiting countries throughout Europe and Asia. She also lived abroad for 3-years with her close friend Joe Toth, an airline pilot based in Colombo Sri Lanka. Judy flew with Joe, riding in the cockpit jump seat throughout Europe, Middle East, Far East, and Australia – an adventure that she loved. Judy was predeceased by her parents Harriet Eileen Dudley Jones Holcomb and Cereno Goodwin Jones, and her son Anthony. She is survived by her children, Steven (Kristin) Laux of Gainesville Florida, Cindy Laux of Mission Viejo California, Carrie (Gary) Fellhoelter of Orange California, Mary Jane (Wendell) Faircloth of Sebring Florida, and Thomas (Mary) Laux of Tampa Florida. She is also survived by her former husband William Laux of Sebring Florida, her brother John F. Jones of Weymouth Nova Scotia, daughter-in-law Michelle Lennon Laux of Lake Butler Florida, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Judy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She loved her family with all her heart, was generous and caring to all she knew, and patient and kind to all she met. A memorial service will be held in Gainesville and she will be interred at the St. Peter and St. Thomas Anglican Church in Weymouth. Details will be provided at a later date.
