Josephine L Barnes

Josephine “Jo” L. Barnes passed away on January 4, 2018. She was born in Avon Park, FL on September 7, 1940 to Jack and Edith (Brewer) Lightsey. Jo had been a resident of Bereah, FL since 1993 coming from Pahokee, FL. She was a very active member of Athens Baptist Church and enjoyed her work at Ridge Florist and she especially loved her family. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Dorys) Barnes of Pahokee, FL and Marty (Jennifer) of Sebring, FL; her sister Sandra Streule (Kevin) of Sebring, FL; brothers Clifford Lightsey (Delcie) of Frostproof, FL and Roger Lightsey of Bereah, FL; grandsons Larry Jr (Megan) of VA, Bruce (Jessica) of Arcadia, FL and Cory of Sebring, FL; one great grandson Erik of NC; her close friend Barbara Cline and several nieces & nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Billy, son Teddy, daughter Wanda, sister Lorraine Polk and two great grandchildren Isaac and Karlie. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park and funeral service will be on Sunday January 7, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Athens Baptist Church in Fort Meade, FL.
