Joseph Frederick Rey

Joseph Frederick Rey, age 79, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2019 in Sarasota, Florida.  He was born May 14, 1940 in Meadville, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Rey and Dolores (Weidenbach) O’Neil.  He was a financial advisor and had been a resident of Boca Raton, Florida from 1968-1990. In 1990 he moved to Lake Placid, Florida where he was also a Town Councilman. He later moved to Sebring, Florida where he remained for the rest of his life. Joe enjoyed sketching, especially portraits, and loved music, often playing the trumpet, guitar and harmonica.  He had a passion for dogs and cats, loved the outdoors, was an avid gardener, enjoyed life, and was kind to everyone.  Joe is survived by his Wife, Suzanne Rey of Sebring, FL; Children, Joseph Rey, Jr. of Boca Raton, FL; Cindy Rey (Steve Storke) of Boca Raton, FL; Christopher Gilbert (Christine) of Sebring, FL; Andrew Gilbert (Deana) of Boca Raton, FL; Siblings, Carolyn Eby of Alaska, Mary Beth O’Neil of West Palm Beach, Steve O’Neil; Grandchildren, Kayleigh Storke, Wade Gilbert, Wesley Gilbert, Wyatt Gilbert, Lauchlin Gilbert, and Drew Gilbert.  Memorial contributions may be made to Highlands County Humane Society.
