Joseph Ralph Hallimen, age 94, passed away on Thursday, December 11, at GOOD SHEPHERD Hospice House in Sebring, Florida. He was born on March 12, 1931, in Syracuse, New York. As a ward of Catholic Family Charities, he lived in multiple foster homes eventually finding a loving foster home with the Flaherty family on Oriole Street in Rochester, NY. Despite his difficult start Joe worked hard making his way in the world eventually serving his country in the United States Air Force at Ft. Dix, NJ where he met his first wife Barbara W. Nevius. After the birth of their first child, they moved back to Rochester near the Flaherty family. He became father to 4 more children while working hard to support his family. Eventually, he found his niche as a project administrator for Eastman Kodak company. It was there that he met his 2nd wife Teresa Pierson. They were married in July of 1985. During this time, he grew in his love of entrepreneurship, starting many various businesses and investments in everything from a subdivision to a campground. After retiring from Eastman Kodak, re-locating to Florida, Teri and Joe moved to the community of Highlands Ridge enjoying golfing, boating, traveling, and playing cards with friends. He and Teri joined Union Church of Avon Park where Joe served as an usher. He also helped package food at the Avon Park Service Center. He was a devoted husband, loyal friend, loving father, and cherished grandfather. One friend commented, “You would just feel good after spending time with Joe.”He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Teri Hallimen; his children, Wendy Grega (James) of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Mark Hallimen & Kathleen Ralg (Kevin) both of Webster, NY, Joseph Hallimen of Sanford, Florida, daughter-in-law Cathy Hallimen of Fairport, NY and his 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Barbara and his daughter, JoAnn Hallimen.Burial service will take place at the National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL on Thursday, January 16th at 2:30 pm. Memorial service on Saturday, January 17th at 11am at Union Church of Avon Park, Fl.In lieu of flowers donations could be made to Good Shepherd House, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870 or Union Church 106 N.
