Jonny F. Tanner, born April 4, 1971, was lifted to Heaven on angels' wings on May 5, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents John & Doris Tanner, sister Denise Williams, and brother Marcus Tanner. Jonny was a devoted and loving husband to Candace Day and proud daddy of two beautiful daughters Kalea Tanner and Kelsey Day of Sebring. He is also survived by a son Miguel Gonzalez of Avon Park; loved sister Maria and husband Sean Szoka, nephews Gavin Szoka and James Wolfhope all of Sebring. Jonny was very proud of his nephew Michael James Tanner and family serving in the US Air Force in Ramstein, Germany. Jonny was employed with Highlands County Traffic Operations as a sign and signal technician and a member of First Baptist Church of Sebring where he coached Upwards basketball and softball. Jonny was a volunteer fireman for DeSoto City Volunteer Fire Department, his most cherished volunteering was for Ridge Area ARC Special Stars. Jonny could often be seen at many local youth sporting events cheering and encouraging each athlete. Jonny was an avid softball player and coach. Jonny was loved and will be missed by many. Jonny has left a lasting legacy of giving. A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Sebring with Rev. Joe Delph officiating. The family is requesting those attending to wear their favorite collegiate, professional or local sports team apparel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Ridge Area ARC Special Stars, DeSoto City Volunteer Fire Department or Good Shepherd Hospice.
