Johnny Lee Nelson of Lake Placid, Florida passed away on Feb 1, 2022 after a long 3 year battle with cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. He was born January 7, 1948 in Sikeston, Missouri to AJ and Margaret Fraley Nelson. He is survived by his mother Margaret of Hendersonville, TN; wife, Linda of Lake Placid, children; Robyn Prescott and Chip Graham, and grandson Gus Marr, all of Nashville, TN special daughter Nikki Brown and granddaughter Jazmin of Rockford, TN. Sister Carolyn (Larry) Fosbinder, Hendersonville, TN, sister-in-law Mary Herlitz of Houston, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews and friends all over the United States. He served proudly in the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion for 45 years and retired from General Mills in Murfreesboro, TN. He will be interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of The Liar’s Club. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring in Mt Juliet, TN. Memorials may be made to the Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, Magnolia Campus, Tampa, FL.
