John Arthur Starling

John Arthur Starling, age 71 passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 surrounded by his loving family in Sebring, Florida. He was born in Lawty, Florida in 1938 to Lucille and Clyde Starling. His family moved to Avon Park in 1941. Johnny retired from Florida Power in Crystal River, Florida in 1997 after 38 years of service; he was a graduate of Avon Park High School, member of Florida Avenue Baptist Church in Avon Park and had been a resident of Sebring since 1996 coming from Crystal River, Florida. He is survived by his wife-Barbara (Smoak) Starling of Sebring, Florida; son-John Bubba Starling (Suzi) of Crystal River, Florida; daughters-Gina Starling of Avon Park, Florida, Gayla Massey (Terry) of Lakeport, Florida and Carla Krysalka (Dan) of Ocala, Florida; step-son-Wes Clemens, IV (Teresa) of Sebring, Florida; brother-Leroy Starling (Mary) of Avon Park, Florida; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Pickett) Starling and his sister Norma Jean Hill. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park with Rev. Floyd Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
