John Charles Robertson, of Sebring, Florida, passed away on June 7, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on September 19, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late William and Laura Mae Robertson.
If you couldn’t find John on the golf course swinging a club, you could find him playing cards; specifically poker and black jack. He even played with Bill Cosby and Flip Wilson. Another sport John loved was basketball. One lucky evening in Cincinnati, he got the opportunity to play a playful pickup game of basketball with Pete Rose.
John was a strong man. A cancer survivor of over 20 years, his heroic strength to fight was admirable, and not something many people could do. He was a family man. There wasn’t much that John wouldn’t do for those he loved. He will be remembered for his courage, compassion, and strength. John will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons John (Laura Jean Norris-Robertson) Reeve Robertson (Port Orange, FL); Phillip (Michelle Dubois-Robertson) Alan Robertson (East Hardwick, Vermont); his brother James (Pat Robertson) B. Robertson (Goleta, CA); and his two grandchildren Elias and Calvin Robertson. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Robertson, whom he was married to for 62 years; and his second wife, Roberta Humes, whom he was married to for 8 years. Donations can be made in John’s honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, which will be linked below.
