JOHN A. MEEK John A. Meek, 90, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010, in Sebring. He was born February 2, 1920, to Sanford K. and Edith I. (Weimer) Meek in Plain Township, Ohio and had been a resident of Sebring since 2003, coming from Naples, Florida. He was a farmer in the agricultural industry and a veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a life member of the VFW; a member of American Legion and the Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni and was an 18 year volunteer at Florida Hospital. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and was very active in his former churches. He enjoyed working on mechanical things; was always ready to help others and loved his family. Mr. Meek is survived by his wife, Bernice Meek of Sebring; daughters, Alice Ann (David) Trapp, Ohio; Sara Jean (Philip) Parsons, California and Bonnie (Rob) Wall, South Carolina; sons, Ron (Joan) Wandel, Michigan; Steve Wandel, New York and Gary (Dana) Wandel, Virginia and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010, at Maranatha Baptist Church, Sebring, with entombment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, immediately following the service. There will be a visitation with family and friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family suggests that friends may make contributions in Mr. Meeks memory to Maranatha Baptist Church, 35 Maranatha Boulevard, Sebring, Fl 33870.
