John Donald Hodges, Jr.

Deacon John Don Hodges, Jr., age 88, of Avon Park, Florida went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.  He was born June 13, 1937 in Venus, Florida to John Donald Hodges, Sr. and Annie Mae Earlene (Allen) Hodges.  He worked and retired as a Truck Driver for C. Elton Crews, member and Deacon of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Lake Placid, FL, sang in the choir, and lifelong resident of Highlands County.  He loved the Lord, read and studied the Bible daily, a prayer warrior, and enjoyed working in his yard while he was able.  John is survived by his children – Jerome Hodges; Antonette Hodges; Darrell Hodges & Wife: Linda; Annette Hodges; Sisters – Dorothy McGahee; Maggie Smith; 20 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; Special Granddaughters – Te’Naura Simmons, Serenity Hodges, Desi Hodges; Special Niece – Catina Renee Spurlock; and Special Sister-in-law – Jellovee Tarver; Sister-in-laws - Elizabeth Dudley; Pauline Davis; Brother-in-law – Lewis Tarver; Willie Dudley, Special Friend: Latysha Anderson-Wells, and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his Parents; Granddaughter – Retuis Shan’te Hodges Wife – Nancy Hodges; and Sons – Grady Hodges, Timothy Hodges.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Lake Placid, FL.  He will be laid to rest in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
