John J. Hoch, age 85, passed away September 8, 2013 in Avon Park, Florida. Mr. Hoch was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1928 to Joseph A. and Emma G. (Davis) Hoch. He was a Masonry and Brick Foreman with Sharon Steel, retiring after 38 years. He was the Past Fire Chief for 20 years at Wheatland Fire Department in Wheatland, Pennsylvania. Member of Lakeside September Club, member of the Masonic Order and the New Castle Consistory. He had been a resident of Avon Park since 1984 coming from Hermitage, Pennsylvania. He was an Associate Member of Lakeside United Church in Walkers Point, Ontario, Canada. Member of Calvary Baptist Church in Farrell, Pennsylvania, Member of Central Christian Church since 1943 in Hermitage, Pennsylvania and an Associate Member of Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church where he also sang in the choir. He is survived by his wife of 63 years-Margery Hoch of Avon Park, Florida and Hermitage, Pennsylvania; daughter-Jinece Loughry of Avon Park, Florida; son-John J. Hoch, II (Barbara) of Transfer, Pennsylvania; 4 grandchildren-Daniel, Shawn, Cortney and Kylene; 2 great-grandchildren-Jake and Lily. He was preceded in death by his brother-William A. Hoch. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church with Rev. George Hall officiating. A memorial services will also be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Central Christian Church in Hermitage, Pennsylvanis with Dr. Jeffrey Moore officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church, Central Christian Church, Lakeside United Church or Cornerstone Hospice.
