John L. Bonaventura

John L. Bonaventura, 82, of Avon Park, FL passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017. He was born in Canastota, New York to the late John S. and Maude (Philo) Bonaventura. He proudly served our country and retired after 30 years from the U.S. Army. He became a resident of Highlands County in 2011 having come from Alaska. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was in the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Lyons Club and attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Debra Bonaventura; daughter, Gina Stolicker (Tim); brother, Joseph Bonaventura (Cindy); sisters, Angie Bravo; Kathy Wood (Carl); Shirley Zehr (Roy); Marie Lohr (Joe); two granddaughters and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jenny Vanderhoff. Services will take place in New York in the spring time of 2018.
