John Anderson, Jr., age 87, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Sebring, Florida. John was born to the late John G. and Jennie (Wenzel) Anderson on May 27, 1929 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Morgantown High School in Morgantown, WV and West Virginia University with a Bachelor's Degree. He retired from Columbia Gas System in Columbus, Ohio. A veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp, he proudly served our country during WWII. He and his first wife Peg owned and operated Amen Corner, a Christian bookstore in Grandview Heights, Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion; active in his church and was an Amateur Radio Operator. He moved to Sebring in 2014 and met and married his wife Kay. They were very active members of Bethany Baptist Church in Avon Park and he enjoyed a game of golf with his friends. Survivors include his wife: Katherine "Kay" Anderson-Sebring, FL; three sons: Rodney William Anderson (Mary Beth)-Dublin, OH, James Alan Anderson (Ruth)-Columbus, OH, Jon Douglas Anderson-Gaithersburg, MD; one step-daughter: Sherri Martin-Mullica Hill, NJ; one brother: Walter Lawrence Anderson (Rose)-Golden, CO; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret C. "Peg" Anderson. There will be a funeral service Thursday, April 27, 2017, 11:00 AM, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring with his Pastor Chuck Pausley officiating.
