John Lemuel Anderson

John Lemuel Anderson passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in Sebring, Florida at the age of 71. Son of Francis Lemuel and Ruth Lucille (Sponberg) Anderson, he was born on May 7, 1951 in Muncie, Indiana. John worked as a purchasing agent for GM and had been a resident of Sebring for 11 years, originally from Anderson, Indiana. First and foremost, John was a loyal husband and diligent father. He did not miss an opportunity to involve himself in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. Aside from his commitment to family, John was an avid golfer, but his truest passion was fishing. He dedicated years of his life to the pursuit and was a devoted member of Highlands County Bass Anglers. He leaves behind beloved fishing partner and lifelong friend, David Ashley, whom he considered a brother. He is also survived by his adoring wife Sherry of Sebring, FL; daughters Tahne O’Neal and Dori Rother; and sister Julie Reid. Also surviving are grandson Brice Rother; granddaughters Taylor Mahurin and Emma O’Neal, who loved him like a father; and great-granddaughter Olivia Mahurin, who will always remember fishing with her Paps. John was preceded in death by his parents.

If John could write his own obituary today, he would claim it was not his achievements in life that gave it value, however proud he was of those accomplishments, but each person that touched his life—each individual experience that taught him to be a better man, husband, and father. And for all those who knew him, even if the meeting was brief, the impact of John’s calm guidance and steadfast support will live on. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
