Johanna Vita Souther

Johanna Vita Souther passed away on July 22, 2017. She was born on November 25, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to Rosario Gurrieri and Vita (Errante) Gurrieri. She was a resident of Avon Park, FL since 1978 coming from Hollywood, FL. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and at the library, and was a member of the Lady’s Guild at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Johanna loved people and very much loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed books and reading, and loved going to the beach and her quiet place at Bok Tower. Johanna always gave of herself to help others and will truly be missed by all who’s lives she touched. She is survived by her children Shannon (Dale) Haislip and Michael Souther of Avon Park, FL; her grandchildren, Cameron Tomlinson, Emma Souther, Tyler Souther, Leah Souther, Nicholas Haislip and Savannah Hailsip.; Sister Celeste Pipitone of Port St. Lucie, FL. She was predeceased by her husband Rodney "Rod" Souther and her brother Paul Gurrieri. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Johanna’s name. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM, Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
