Joan "Flo" Smith, 80, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012, at her home. She was born February 26, 1932, to Harold and Reba (Vickers) Nelson in Bloomingrose, West Virginia, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1999, coming from West Virginia. She graduated from Sherman High School in Seth, West Virginia; attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and was a pastor's wife for sixty years. She was an active member of the Spring Lake Baptist Church and loved the Lord and her family. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Ronald F. Smith of Sebring; sons, Dr. Steve (Tannia) Smith, Costa Rica; Rev. Greg (Twila) Smith, West Virginia and Rev. Brent (Bettye) Smith, Georgia; two brothers, Ronald Nelson and Reggie Nelson; three sisters, Connie Hammel; Judy Mullens and Karen Pardue; aunt, Jean Arvon, WV; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carl Barton officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL, immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to The Gideons International, P.O.
