Jessica Dickey, 44 years young, passed away Sunday April 7th, 2024. Jessica was the most amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend and teacher anyone could dream of. Jessica left us so very peacefully at home, in her own bed, surrounded by love after a courageous and inspiring battle with pancreatic cancer. Jessica's journey has been shared and followed around the world because of the grace and dignity and bravery she showed every step of the way.
Jessica was born in Tallahassee and grew up in Wakulla County, FL. Jessica graduated from Florida State University and worked in the banking field before switching to her true passion for teaching. Jessica taught countless K-5 children over the years and impacted so many on such a real and personal level. Jessica also helped run the VPK program at Hilltop Elementary where she was able to form so many bonds with children about to begin their school careers.
To know Jessica was to love Jessica. She was such a cool person. She loved reading and her cooking shows, and all her forensics investigation shows. Her favorite book and movie were The Wizard of Oz. Jessica loved the beach, almost as much as she loved Amazon and Target and Old Navy.
Jessica is survived by a wonderful 15-year-old son, Rivers, and her husband, George. She leaves behind an incredible family. Sister Amanda, Close as a Sister Cousin Stephanie, Cousin Steven, Aunt Sherry, Uncle Steve, Uncle Bob, Uncle Tom, Uncle Jeff, Mimi and Papa, Aunt Muffy, Tina, Karen, Barbara, all their incredible spouses and children and too many friends and work family to even begin to list.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service in the coming weeks to honor Jessica's amazing life and inspirational fight against such a cruel disease. Jessica's legacy will be one of a truly bright spirit and pure heart that did everything she could to fill everyone around her with happiness and love. We find so much solace knowing that Jessica has reached her true No Place Like Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 29, 2024 at 10:30am at First Christian Church in Wauchula, FL.
