Jerry Swanton lost his battle with cancer on August 22nd of 2022 surrounded by family. He was an honorable Christian man and devoted husband, father, and grandfather with a strong sense of duty. Jerry worked in the automotive industry, and in his spare time enjoyed woodworking. He was raised in a military family, and spent his formative years in Germany. He served his country from 1962-1965 in communications during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the military, he met the love of his life, Betty. They then settled and went on to raise their children and grandchildren in Henderson county, North Carolina. He is survived by his siblings Terry, Sharon, and Karen. He leaves behind his children Cindy Jones and her husband Philip, and his son Scott Swanton. He has two granddaughters Rachel Swanton and Anna Swanton, and their husbands respectively Ben and Matt. He has three great granddaughters Mani, Lily, and Myah June. He was an amazing man and will be greatly missed. He was a very giving and kind man, and to continue carrying on that tradition we would ask that in lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude's Children’s hospital or the humane society in his honor.
