Jerry Kyle Shawley, of Sebring, Florida, passed away on May 18, 2025 at the age of 73. He was born on July 6, 1951 In Rockford, Illinois, to the late Lloyd and Denise Shawley. Jerry had been a Sebring resident for nearly 25 years, moving to the area in 2000 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War, a time that instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life. While he was deployed, he found a lot of enjoyment travelling the world and boxing. After his military service, he was working in the veteran’s administration, then went to the steel mills for a few years ,while working as a firefighter in Pennsylvania for years before coming to Florida. After moving down south, he started working at Home Depot as a freight Associate. He thoroughly enjoyed working there with his daughter Cori. When it comes to sports, Jerry liked to watch a little bit of everything. He took a particular liking to NASCAR, as well as the Steelers football team.

Jerry found a lot of joy in working with his hands. Not only could he build and fix just about anything, but he was also a talented artist, and even obtained a scholarship for his work, but chose a more disciplined career in the Navy. Jerry was also musically gifted. He had a showstopping voice and had the unique ability to change the lyrics to any song and make it funny. He even attended Woodstock, where he watched some of the most talented musicians perform. Jerry loved to make people laugh. He had a great sense of humor. Above all else, Jerry was a selfless, loving, devoted husband and father. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was as sweet as the candy he kept in his pockets. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Debbie; his son Kyle Lee Shawley (Lake Placid, FL); his daughter Cori Denise Shawley (Sebring, FL); his brother Lloyd Shawley (Pennsylvania); his brother Denny Shawley (Pennsylvania); and his brother Howard Shawley (Missouri). He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Denise Shawley.
