Jerry Mckenzie

Jerry McKenzie, age 73, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 in Avon Park, FL. He was born on December 8, 1941 in Sebring, Florida to the late Sam and Lillian (Lanier) McKenzie. Jerry had been a lifelong resident of Avon Park and was a member of the Florida Avenue Baptist Church. He owned and operated his own land clearing business. Jerry served as a Junior Policeman for Avon Park, Sunday School Director, usher chairman, and on the usher committee. He is survived by his wife: Betty S. McKenzie; daughters: Teresa M. Crawford of Wauchula, FL; Tammy D. Liskey of Sebring, FL; Terri L. Nicholson of Avon Park, FL; son: Larry F. Meyer of Avon Park, FL; sister: Vivian McKenzie of Sebring, FL; grandchildren: Kynnon Martin; Kaylyn Walton; Kasey Gorman; Shane Liskey; McKenzie Liskey; Ciara Meyer; Sean Martin; Candice Conerly; Jason Nicholson; Armon Nicholson; Amber Hinote; and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by son: Jerry Girard McKenzie and brother: Sam E. McKenzie; A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park. A funeral service officiated by Pastor John Girdley will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Florida Avenue Baptist Church, followed by burial at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park.
