In Loving Memory of Jerry Franklin Batson
January 30, 1948 – March 29, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry Franklin Batson, a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and patriot, on March 29, 2025. Born on January 30, 1948, to Conner and Mary Batson, Jerry’s life was marked by dedication, determination, and a profound love for his family and passions.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Jerry served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His expertise as an electronics technician led to a lifelong career working with scales. His entrepreneurial journey truly took flight when he purchased a scale company, transforming it into a thriving business through his vision, determination, and skill. His work touched many lives, and the company became a testament to his unwavering drive and commitment to excellence.

Jerry’s love for adventure was evident in his passion for aviation. He had a tumultuous yet endearing relationship with his airplane—a constant source of frustration that somehow only deepened his love for it. Whether he was wrestling with stubborn repairs or muttering a sarcastic remark about its quirks, his devotion to his plane was undeniable, and those who knew him couldn't help but smile at his determination to keep it soaring.

Jerry was also known for his sharp wit and sarcasm, always quick with a clever quip or a remark that left people laughing and shaking their heads. His humor was a gift, and he had a way of brightening even the most mundane moments with his unique perspective on life.

Jerry’s greatest joy came from the time spent with his family, friends, and especially his beloved grandchildren. He cherished fishing trips to Florida, where the days on the water were filled with laughter, stories, and deep moments of connection that became treasured memories. Once the rods were put away, he’d eagerly challenge his kids to a race in Mario Kart, where his competitive spirit and playful banter turned every race into an unforgettable experience.

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his sons, Michael "Sean" Batson and Matthew Franklin (Trisha) Batson; his daughters, Christine (Andy) Schachter and Deidre (Andrew) Mountcastle; his nine beloved grandchildren; his brother, Dale Batson; and his sisters, Patricia Dunaway and Linda Bates, along with their families. He leaves behind a profound legacy of love and memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Conner and Mary Batson, and his dear twin sister, Judy.

Jerry’s life will be celebrated not only for his unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his country but also for the joy, love, and laughter he brought to the lives of those around him. While his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy and the warmth of his memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
