SMSgt Jeffrey Dean "Goody" Goodwin, beloved Fire Chief, U.S. Air Force veteran, and devoted father, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Sebring, Florida, at 51. Born in Landstuhl, Germany, Jeffrey was the cherished son of Clifford L. Goodwin and Paulette S. Goodwin.
Jeffrey enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1991, serving his country with honor and commitment. He rose to become the Chief of the Avon Park Air Force Bombing Range, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community. Jeffrey traveled the world, fighting for and protecting his country and always going above and beyond for those around him. He loved his work and his brothers and sisters in the force, living his life with passion, courage, and an unwavering sense of duty.
Jeffrey is survived by his children, Kristyn, Lori, and Joseph Goodwin, their mother, Heather Goodwin, and his partner, Fatima Lagrow. He is also survived by his parents, Paulette S. Goodwin and Clifford L. Goodwin, as well as siblings, Daniel Goodwin (wife Elizabeth Goodwin), Deborah Snyder (husband Norman Snyder), Timothy Goodwin (partner Angel Anderson), and Teresa Dotson (husband John Doston), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeffrey loved many things: playing guitar, singing, cooking, indulging in tacos, making people laugh, dominating the pickleball court, being creative, cheering for the Miami Dolphins, and, most of all, being a hands-on father. He loved animals, especially his dogs Harper, Delilah, Ellie, Oreo, Harley, and Dixie, and his granddogs, Tilly and Clover.
His warmth, humor, and dedication to others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
