Jeannette Ruth Garcia

Jeannette Ruth Garcia, “Ms. JJ”, age 71, of Sebring, FL passed away peacefully Friday, December 24, 2021.

Jeannette was born December 7, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland to Albert and Gertrude Heinkel.   She is survived by her siblings Evelyn Barton, Johnny Heinkel, and Margret Fisher; children George Nowling (Leyla), Grant Nowling (Angie), Angel Nowling (Dusty), Alicia Thomas; Grandchildren- Charity, Nikki, Misty, Chasity and Jordan; 6 great grandchildren; and many nephews, and nieces – all of whom made up her entire world.  Along with her parents, Jeannette is preceded in death by her brother-Albert Heinkel.

Jeannette’s family moved to Fort Myers, Florida when she was a young girl. Several years later she had two sons and soon relocated to central Florida, where she completed her family with two daughters. While living in Sebring, Jeannette went back to school to continue her education in early childhood learning. Through the years she cherished helping many young children get their educational start during their early years.

Jeannette was a great role model to so many in her community.  She spent many hours volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, volunteering at her local art league, public library, and holiday bell ringing. She especially enjoyed her time at her children’s and grandchildren’s schools.

Family and friends meant so much to Jeannette, no matter if it was a quick wave passing by at Walmart, or a visit out to dinner.  She regularly enjoyed a good ole night out playing “B-I-N-G-O”! Jeannette had a fair share of Coca-Cola and Elvis Presley memorabilia which decorated the walls of her home. She was an avid postage stamp and coin collector. Homemade arts and crafts were a specialty of hers, along with crocheting - from Barbie doll clothes for her girls to blankets for the grandkids.

Jeannette enjoyed life through good times, and difficult times.  She always had a positive attitude and outlook on life.  She got the most joy from being called “NANA” by her grandchildren – who were her greatest treasures.

A celebration of Jeannette’s life will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home, in Sebring, FL
