Jean Louis Voyer, 89, of St. Basile, Quebec, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 surrounded by family.
He was born on September 20, 1934 to Xavier Voyer and Rose-Anna Beaupre and was a loving husband of 62 years to the late Lorraine (Bedard) Voyer.
Jean was a dedicated miner for over 31 years across Canada and the United States. His career fostered his love to travel as he and his family often relocated to new places. Jean and Lorraine’s desire to travel extended into retirement as they resided in a motorhome for many years. During that time, they enjoyed visitors and visiting family and friends, attended many jamborees, music festivals and enjoyed meeting acquaintances along the way before settling in Sebring, Florida.
In his spare time, Jean found pleasure in attending bingo, doing yard work and creating beautiful hook rugs that he proudly displayed for all to see. These activities brought him relaxation and a creative outlet. Also, Jean was a devoted Catholic and found solace in practicing and living his faith.
Jean’s true joy in life came from cherished moments spent with his family. He was a loving father to his children: Johanne Wiemer (James), Perry Voyer (LeAnn), Lisa Voyer-Lawliss (Michael) and late David Voyer. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Christina Powell (Sean), Kira Frappa (Ben), Amber Voyer, Katelynn Voyer, Nicholas Lawliss (Grace Chilsom), Lauren Lawliss and Alexandre Lawliss. As well as his great grandchildren: Alexander (Xane) Wiemer, Holden, Lochlan and Saoirse Powell.
He is also survived by his siblings: Jeanne-D’Arc Trepanier, Lucien Voyer (Irene), Marcel Voyer, Simonne Dion (Gaston), Pauline Moisan (Andre), Gratien Voyer and Huguette Potvin. In addition, Jean is preceded by his siblings Lucienne Gingras, Paul Henri Voyer and Maurice Voyer.
A funeral service to honor and remember Jean’s life will be held at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, Florida on March 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was loved and will always be remembered.
