Pastor James L. Weed, Jr., 74, passed into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, December, 22nd, 2016. He was born and raised in the Meadville, Pennsylvania area and served in the U.S. Army Security Agency. He moved to Cheektowaga, New York where he enjoyed coaching youth sports and being a scout leader for both cub scouts and boy scouts. Jim and his family moved to Sebring in 1986. He immediately became involved in coaching youth football. He was president of the Heartland Youth Football League for many years. Jim worked at an Avon Park Airport Company refurbishing the interiors of private airplanes. Jim eventually opened the Woodshed Cabinet Shop which specialized in making and installing kitchen cabinets, vanities, etc. Jim felt the call to the ministry and was ordained, serving the congregation of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church until his death. He was active in The American Association of Lutheran Churches, serving where ever needed. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol, daughter, Barbara (Michael) Stock, sons; Stephen (Cheryl Hanson) Weed and Jeffrey (Mary) Weed, all of Sebring. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, brothers: Richard (Shirley) Weed of Meadville, PA, Robert (Kathie) Weed of Sebring, FL and Mark (Patti) Weed of Albion, PA, and nieces and nephews. Jim enjoyed his family, football and was especially passionate about his calling to serve the Lord. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 14th 2017, at 3p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church of Sebring.
