James Roy Smith

age 76 passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in Avon Park, Florida. He was born in Coffee County, Alabama on October 26, 1936 to Robert and Mattie (Thomas) Smith. Mr. Smith was a Vocational Instructor, he was a member of the Sanctuary Church of God, and he enjoyed fishing, leather works and was active in his church and had been a resident of Avon Park since 1954 coming from Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 58 years-Wilma Smith of Avon Park, Florida; children-Elaine McKinney of Avon Park, Florida and Travis Smith (Patricia) of Avon Park, Florida; brothers-Sergeant Major Billy Roy Smith and Donald Edward Smith of Sebring, Florida; sisters-Bonnie Faye Gray and Kathy Jarvis of Avon Park, Florida; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-Grady Smith, Louie C. Smith and Charles Smith. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Sanctuary Church of God in Avon Park; funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. also at the church with Pastor Wendell G.
