James R. "Papa Jim" Scott, age 76, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 following a long illness. He was born on February 7, 1941 in Avon Park, FL to Cary Lee and Elsie Mae (Woodard) Scott. He was the Owner & Operator of Ridge Air Conditioning for over 30 years, of the Nazarene faith, and has been a lifelong resident of Avon Park, FL. He is survived by his Wife - Judy Scott of Ft. Meade, FL; Sons - James G. Scott of Avon Park, FL; Frank Scott (Tammy) of Murphy, NC; Brothers- Curtis Scott (Joyce) of Athens, GA; Bill Scott of NM; Noel Scott (Nancy) of Avon Park, FL; David Scott (Olivia) of Avon Park, FL; 2 Grandsons - J.C. Scott (Stephanie); Cary Scott (Ashton); and 6 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Family will begin receiving friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
