James Grafton Patton, Jr. passed away on October 11, 2024, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 89. Born on November 30, 1934, in Dante, Virginia, James was the son of the late James and Ruth Patton. He lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love, touching many lives along the way.
James proudly served his country as a Marine in the United States military, demonstrating the same strength and dedication that would define him throughout his life. He moved to Florida in 1992 from New York, where he settled in Sebring.
A man of faith, James was an active member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. His presence was also cherished in the local community, where he was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge. In his free time, James enjoyed bowling, golfing, and restoring classic cars, a hobby that combined his love of craftsmanship and attention to detail. An avid Yankees fan, he rarely missed a game, proudly supporting his favorite team through the years. His love for life was evident in his passion for dancing.
His legacy lives on in his children—Renee Patton, James Acevedo, Daniel Acevedo, Brenda Diaz and Elizabeth Santiago—as well as his siblings Herbert Patton, Ernestine Outlaw, and Steve Patton. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom will cherish the memories and love he shared with them.
James Grafton Patton, Jr. lived a full and meaningful life, and though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew and loved him.
A service to honor his life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will start at 2:00 PM. At the Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, 4001 Sebring Parkway, Sebring, FL.
