JAMES O. SMITH James O. Smith, 76, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in Lake Placid, FL. He was born January 8, 1935, to Hoke and Stella Mae (Gillis) Smith in Waycross, Georgia, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1968, coming from New Jersey. He was an automotive mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Christian faith and loved fishing and being with his family. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Darlene) Smith, Sebring; Roy (Cindy) Smith, Virginia; William Jay Smith, Sebastian, FL and Jimmy Smith, Sebastian; daughter, Sarah (Larry) Hamlin, Georgia; sister, Jean (Harvey) Rawling, Georgia; brother, Al Smith, Georgia; half-brothers, Tommy Cocker and Stan Cocker, Gainesville; half-sister, Bea Martin, Jacksonville; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Gray. Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, Sebring with Pastor Mike Adams officiating.
