James J. Murphy

JAMES J. MURPHY James J. Murphy, age 77, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Sebring, FL. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Charles and Retha Murphy. He was a carpenter by trade and also worked for a large office equipment manufacturer planning, pricing and installing their equipment. He joined SIM in his retirement years, feeling the Lord wanted him to work full time in service for Him. At SIM's headquarters in Charlotte, NC, Jim worked in maintenance, the kitchen and housekeeping. Wherever there was a need, he was available and served with a smile. He is survived by a sister, Gerry Sekinger, two daughters, Sharon Johnson and Deborah Nissley, and a son, James Murphy, along with eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan in 2006. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 10:00 AM at the SIM Retirement Village Chapel in Sebring, FL. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to SIM USA, 4114 Nigeria Street, Sebring, FL 33875, designated for use at the SIM Retirement Village.
