James Wayne Mcconnell

McConnell, James Wayne "Mac", 73, of Avon Park, FL passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 in Sebring. He was born October 31, 1936, in Avon Park and had been a lifelong resident of the area. After graduation from Avon Park High School in 1954, he served in the United States Air Force. He was a retired Letter Carrier for the USPS where he worked for 34 years. During his retirement, he served as a Sheriff for the Highlands County Supervisor of Elections; and was a FWC Check Station Operator for Arbuckle and KICCO Wildlife Management Areas. He was a charter member of Word Fellowship Church in Sebring and spent many hours reading God's word. He loved spending time with family and friends, including the special times spent fishing, hunting, camping, and watching his grandsons play baseball and basketball. Wayne is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorene McConnell of Avon Park, daughter Karen Angell and her husband Dave of Sebring, daughter Dana Stiff and her husband Patrick of Bowling Green, KY, brother Joe McConnell of Orlando, and grandsons Connor and Carson Angell of Sebring. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park with the Rev. Marcus Marshall officiating.
