James Henry Laurie, age 93 passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Orange Park, Florida. Mr. Laurie was born in Wyoming to Henry and Edith Viola (Trogdon) Laurie. Mr. Laurie was a Gunsmith in Avon Park for many years, he served in the United States Navy during World War II, he was a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, after moving to Jacksonville he became a member of the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mr. Laurie is survived by his children-James Walter Laurie (Kathleen) of Texas, Viola Maye Scott (Randy) of South Dakota and Teresa Ann Howard (George) of Jacksonville, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife-Alicia Laurie and 4 sisters. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Nick McLoughlin officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, Florida 32064.
