James P. "Jim" Kelley, age 78 passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Lake Wales, Florida. Mr. Kelley was born in Bowling Green, Florida on March 6, 1934 to Wilburn and Ruth (Anderson) Kelley. Mr. Kelley was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, he served in Vietnam, he was a member of the Florida Avenue Baptist Church, he was a Board Member of the Avon Park Historical Society, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball, fishing and hunting, he served as a letter carrier in Avon Park for many years; he was a lifelong resident of Avon Park, Florida; he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he was a true friend to everyone that he had the pleasure of knowing and will be greatly missed by all. We Love you Dad. Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife-Joyce Bigbie Kelley of Avon Park, Florida; son-Dennis James (Debra) Kelley of Deltona, Florida; daughter-Pamela K. (Kem) Smith of Lake Wales, Florida; sister-Eulora (Luis) Meza of Avon Park, Florida; grandchildren-Jarred, Kailey and Melanie. Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his parents, a son-Terry Lee Kelley and a grandson-Jacob James Casey. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida. Funeral service will be Thursday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Pastor John Girdley officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
