James Edmund Ingalls, Sr. Sept. 5, 1915 March 7, 2010 James Edmund Ingalls, Sr., 94, of, Sebring, Florida, passed away on March 7 at the Hope Hospice Center in Sebring, Florida. He was born September 5, 1915, the son of the late Louis Sessions Ingalls and Mary Ethel (Gallup) Ingalls. Raised in Brooklyn Connecticut, he established three thriving business: The Ingalls Printing Company, a commercial printery; Doring Labels, a pressure-sensitive label printery; and Columbia Research, which produced and patented label applying devices. Jim moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1966, where on September 28, 1968 he married his loving wife, June Carver. With her help and support, he established Auto-Labe, Inc., a very successful machine shop which produced made-to-order industrial label application machines. In 1987, Jim and June moved to Sebring, Florida, enjoying their retirement with golf and many friends. For the last ten years Jim established and maintained the official website for the Golf Hammock Country Club. Jim was a very talented musician, and at a young age competed on various talent shows, including winning a contract with the Major Bowes Vaudeville Show, which traveled the country during the 30s and 40s featuring talented artists. In addition to singing and guitar playing, Jim was an accomplished yodeler, and often rivaled "Oklahoma's Yodeling Cowboy" Gene Autry for the top spotlight. In the 1950s and 60s he was very active in the local Barbershop quartet with his brother Ralph. He also enjoyed entertaining others for hours with sing-alongs and playing the organ. He was an accomplished yachtsman and woodworker, and he never met a puzzle he couldnt solve. He was predeceased by a daughter, Daryl June Ingalls, who passed away November 2, 1961, a son, Dana Gallup Ingalls, who passed away May 26, 2009, and two brothers, George and Ralph. In addition to his wife June, he is survived by his sister, Ellen Elizabeth (Ingalls) Gausch of St. Louis, MO.; a son, James Edmund Ingalls Jr. and his wife Melody of Brooklyn, CT.; a daughter, Diane Hope (Ingalls) Blake and her husband Fred of Friendship ME.; a granddaughter, Laura Rose Ingalls of Dracut, MA.; a grandson, Eric James Ingalls of Brooklyn, CT., all of whom will miss him dearly. Services will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Golf Hammock Golf and Country Club House with Rev. Ted Moore Officiating.
