James Morris Houpe

James Morris Happ Houpe. Jimmy was born in Statesville, North Carolina on September 25, 1941 and passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Avon Park, Florida. He moved to Highlands County in 1958. He served in the United States Navy from August of 1962 to October 30, 1967. He was employed in the auto salvage and auto parts business. He is preceded in death by his parents James H. and Fannie (White) Houpe, his brother Jerry Houpe and his sisters Betty Houpe Deal and Peggy Houpe Privette. He is survived by his wife of 25 years-Bonnie Houpe of Avon Park, Florida; sons-David Houpe (Lisa) of Monks Corner, South Carolina and Kenneth Houpe (Sherri) of Lakeland, Florida; daughters-Teresa Crawford ( Vent) of Wauchula, Florida and Tammy Liskey of Sebring, Florida; brother-Tom Houpe (Gloria) of Avon Park, Florida; sisters-Teresa Duffy (James) of Sebring, Florida and Lynn Applegate (Dave) of Indiana; 8 grandchildren-Christina Brakit, Ashley Houpe, Kaylyn Crawford, Michael Houpe, Shane Liskey, Kendra Houpe, Trey Houpe and McKenzie Liskey and great grandchildren-Thomas and Robert Lee Barkit. Visitation will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack White and Rev. George Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice of Highlands County.
