James Hooks

JAMES C. HOOKS James C. Hooks, 92, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his home. He was born November 27, 1920, in Macon County, Alabama, to the late Laurance Hooks Jr. and Lou Belle(Cain) Hooks, both parents preceded him in death. He was one of 5 brothers: Ephesus Hooks, Milo Hooks, IJohn Hooks, and Calvin Hooks; 4 sisters: Rebecca Collis, Rosie Harris, Janie Davis, and Selena Franks, all who preceded him in death. He studied at Tuskegee Institute and served in the U.S. Army, he was a WWII veteran. He lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, working as an automatic and construction worker. There he married his first wife and from that union came one daughter. He became a resident of Sebring, Florida in the early 60's. He was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed in the agricultural industry and carried his mechanic work throughout. He met and later married his wife, Sister Josephine K.(Green) Hooks in 1979 who also precedes him in death. A daughter, Eloise L. Anderson also preceded him in death. He was very active, loving and caring to his family and community. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters; Ruth Hill of Ohio, June D.Clifford (Matthew) of Sebring, FL.; one son; Lee Marvin Anderson of Charleston, SC.; adopted son; Carnell Hawthorn of Live Oak, FL.; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
